This is a little blown out of proportion. I’ll be the first to admit that Hillsong has improved since their nadir. (If my intuition is correct, I think I prefer Reuben Morgan to Joel Houston though.)
I think the main problem is that we don’t love to read the Bible. There are plenty of people who don’t read it, and there are plenty of people who read about it, but who sits down with a hunk of text and actually wants to read about how God is a lot better at everything than I am? It’s humbling.
