Subplot—he wouldn’t come out and say why…but he’s been turning down interviews, and then this article comes out and it’s an interview devoted to God.
My guess? Instead of watering down the message by accepting every interview request, he wanted to say it his way, instead of being scripted as a public spectacle. That is a heads-up move! (Also, it says that he’s more committed to excellence than to talking, something which I am sure is not lost on his teammates. Not to mention, he’s probably exhausted and needs rest.) I know I would think, Time to use as many platforms as possible to talk about God. But he doesn’t have to—he’s using the very temporary interest to deliver as clear of a God-story as possible. Wisdom right there. God is clearly with him. Glory to God!
It’s a constant battle. My flesh was constantly pulling at me. Whine. Complain. Whine. Complain. But the other side of me was thinking, “My God is all powerful.” … That’s the sad part. When I look back, there are so many times in my life where I’ve questioned God. Why do I even doubt God? At the same time, it’s a growing process.
